Leaves turn, tulip planting time!
Leaves are turning, mind you a little early, but that means it's time to get ready to plant our tulips. For the past 3 years I have involved my 3rd graders in a project that looks at how weather patterns, seasonal changes, and temperature variances affect the growth of tulips. This is a global project that takes place through the Journey North program. You can take a peek at what the kids are in store for at http://www.learner.org/jnorth/tulip/index.html. Watch for our photos as we document our own journey with the help of Mr. Swanson, Rothschild Schools resident gardener!

Ready to Rock!
Welcome to third grade! This year is going to be an adventure in so many ways! I am excited to share in so many opportunities to learn with you in third grade. This website is our place to organize what is happening in our classroom. You will find links to view student work, weekly spelling core list, on-line book orders through Scholastic, and many other useful links.
Part or our experience this year is to use technology throughout our day. A few of my favorite things to do are to go on Virtual Fieldtrips to places like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island; participate in global internet projects with classrooms from around the world; create final projects using programs like Twiducate, Wordle, or Google docs. I have so many opportunities waiting for you and can't wait for our year to begin!
